\"Poker\" <\/p>\n

The game of poker is a card game where players compete to make the best hand. In Texas Hold’em, a high hand is a hand with two distinct pairs and an ace. A pair of aces or a pair of kings also wins the pot. If two players tie for the highest hand, the high card wins the pot. A tie also occurs when no one has a pair or a better hand, but at least one player has a pair.<\/p>\n

In Texas Hold’em, a player may make forced bets. These bets come in three forms: antes, blinds, and bring-ins. When a player chooses to make a forced bet, he forfeits his right to compete for the pot. If a player chooses to make a forced bet, he must bet the required amount, which may include the ante, blind, or bring-in bet.<\/p>\n

A player may act weakly when he is actually strong. In a tanking situation, the player takes too long to decide on his bet. This gives away information, and makes the player look weak. In contrast, a good player will react quickly to unusual player behavior and make a large bet involving a significant portion of the chips. If the player is unbalanced, he should call the bet. That way, the other player can’t fold.<\/p>\n

The odds in poker determine the rank of standard hands. A five-card hand can be either high or low. The highest five-card hand, five-of-a-kind, beats a straight flush. The highest non-suit card in a five-card hand is called the Royal Flush. In addition, the high card outside a four-of-a-kind breaks a tie.
